The goal of CLT Inc.’s Eye Care Program in Suma Ahenkro is to focus on prescribing and delivering eyeglasses, free of charge, to all patients in Suma Ahenkro with the presbyopia condition by the year 2020. This condition is the most common cause of vision impairment and the second most common cause of blindness in the world. This is the reason CLT Inc. is taking this groundbreaking approach to addressing this condition by the introduction of this unprecedented eye care initiative – bringing eye care services (first in the history of Suma Ahenkro) to patients in this village. These short-term clinics will be conducted annually. CLT Inc. plans to expand this program in the future to address not only presbyopia but also screen and conduct cataract surgeries for patients who need such intervention.

Suma Ahenkro Eye Care Clinic Project Projected Timeframe: Fall 2013 CLT Inc. in partnership with Van J Optical Clinic and Ghana Health Services will provide screening and eye care for patients during a short-term eye clinic in the village. Approximately 300-400 patients will be seen (and provided with eyeglasses free of charge) by the team of volunteer optometrists and eye care technicians.
